Julia & Alistair - Maungaturoto Wedding

There is something profoundly beautiful about a wedding that feels like a culmination of a lifetime together. After nearly two decades by each other's side and raising a beautiful family, Julia and Alistair finally made it official in the place that means the most—their home in Maungaturoto.

The energy throughout the day was incredible. You could feel the history in the room. There was a constant, lighthearted thread running through the speeches about how long it took for this day to arrive, but it was clear to everyone present that the timing was perfect. Seeing their teenage children celebrate their parents’ commitment was a highlight—a true reflection of the deep, enduring love they have cultivated as a family.

We also made sure to capture Alistair’s passion for classic American muscle cars. With a little help from a smoke machine, we created some moody, high-impact portraits that really showcased his pride and joy alongside the couple. It was a fun, unique break in the day that felt 100% them.

The reception at the local hall was the beating heart of the community. It was stripped back, genuine, and exactly what a wedding should be: great food and even better company. That fantastic BBQ kept everyone fueled for what was easily the loudest, most energetic band I have ever had the pleasure of photographing. From the first song to the last, the dance floor was packed with every Kiwi classic imaginable.

Julia and Alistair, thank you for inviting me to document such a milestone. It was an honor to witness a love that has already stood the test of time and is only just getting started.

“Tony recently shot our wedding, we have some beautiful photos to remember our day. Tonys communication is fantastic from start to end and he made myself and husband comfortable. Having practice shots was key for us as we are not photogenic type 😂 thanks Moments in Light.”
