Cherry & Chi – Elegant Romance at Abel Estate

There are some weddings where you can just feel it straight away — that quiet, undeniable connection between two people. Cherry and Chi have that in abundance. A beautiful young couple, deeply in love, and the kind of energy that makes the whole day feel effortless.

Their wedding took place at the ever-stunning Abel Estate, a venue that never fails to deliver elegance and charm. Nestled among vineyards and centred around a peaceful lake, it set the perfect scene for a day that was both refined and full of personality.

Cherry and Chi chose the rotunda by the lake for their ceremony — a beautiful, serene spot where everything felt calm and intentional. Surrounded by family, friends, and plenty of excited little ones running about, the atmosphere was warm, joyful, and full of life. It’s always something special when a wedding blends elegance with genuine, relaxed energy, and this one struck that balance perfectly.

In the lead-up to the big day, we had spent some time together at Muriwai Beach for a practice shoot. That session made all the difference. Like many couples, Chi admitted he was a little nervous about being in front of the camera — but by the time the wedding day arrived, he was completely in the moment. Confident, relaxed, and fully present with Cherry, which is exactly where he needed to be.

And Cherry — she was simply stunning. Effortless style, a real eye for detail, and a calm confidence that carried through the entire day. Together, they looked incredible — the kind of couple that just naturally fits.

As the day unfolded, it was clear just how loved they are. Laughter echoed through the speeches, kids played freely, and every moment felt genuine and unforced. These are the kinds of weddings I love to document — not overly staged, just real moments happening naturally.

The reception brought a beautiful shift in energy. After a polished and elegant first dance, Cherry surprised everyone with a K-pop inspired dance alongside her friends — fun, vibrant, and completely unforgettable. It was such a perfect reflection of her personality and brought the whole room to life.

As the evening settled in, we stepped away for some portraits — and this is where the magic really happened.

There’s something about that soft evening light, the calm after the excitement of the day, where couples can just be together. Cherry and Chi absolutely loved this part — no pressure, no audience, just the two of them taking it all in. Those moments always create something special, and these were no exception. Some of my favourite images from the entire day came from that quiet window of time.

Cherry and Chi’s wedding was the perfect blend of elegance, personality, and genuine connection. A beautiful beginning for two people who are clearly meant to be.

“Tony is an incredibly dedicated photographer who goes above and beyond to make us feel comfortable in front of the camera. We had a very fun engagement shoot at Muriwai and Tony gave us many tips to prepare us for the wedding day. Leading up to our wedding day, he checked in with us multiple times to go over details and carefully noted all of our requests. We really appreciated his dedication.
We could tell our guests loved the energy he brought on the wedding day — it really helped lighten the mood during the group photos. The portraits he did for our guests after the reception was a highlight! And we loved all the candid moments he captured.

We are so glad we picked Tony to be our wedding photographer! 5 out of 5!”
