Emma & Corey | Hamilton Gardens & St Peter Chanel Catholic Church, Hamilton

Some weddings stay with you long after the last frame is captured. Emma and Corey's day was one of those weddings — a day woven through with genuine love, infectious energy, and the kind of thoughtful detail that tells you everything about a couple.

A Garden Romance, Revisited

Emma and Corey had already fallen in love with Hamilton Gardens during our engagement shoot together. The light there, the layered beauty of the different garden rooms, the way the space shifts from intimate to grand — it all came together so naturally for them that choosing it as the backdrop for their wedding portraits felt less like a decision and more like a homecoming.

Photographing in winter means being strategic with light, so we made the most of the morning hours and photographed before the ceremony. This is one of my favourite approaches during the cooler months — the light is soft, the couple is relaxed, and there is no rushing against a fading afternoon sky. Having already explored the gardens together during the engagement session, I knew exactly where to take Emma and Corey, which corners caught the best light, which pathways offered depth and romance, and which spots were simply too beautiful to skip. We moved through the gardens with ease, building a rich and varied collection of images without any of the usual uncertainty of a new location.

Throughout our time in the gardens, we were met with warmth from onlookers who paused to admire the couple — a quiet reminder of just how beautiful this day truly was.

Emma & Corey

Emma was breathtaking. Her gown was something truly special — designed and crafted by a talented young local dressmaker during her summer holidays, it carried that rare quality of feeling both entirely personal and completely refined. Her sisters stood beside her in beautifully matched dresses, and together they made for a portrait of grace. Corey and his brothers were equally sharp, their coordinating outfits giving the wedding party a polished, cohesive elegance that photographed beautifully across every setting in the gardens.

The Ceremony | St Peter Chanel Catholic Church

From the gardens, we moved to the ceremony at St Peter Chanel Catholic Church — a setting of quiet reverence and timeless beauty. There is something deeply moving about witnessing a couple make their promises within the walls of a place so steeped in meaning, and Emma and Corey carried that gravity with genuine tenderness.

A Reception Designed for the World-Wanderers

If the gardens and the church told the story of Emma and Corey's romance, the reception told the story of their lives together. As passionate travellers, they designed their reception tables around the countries they have explored — each one a small tribute to a place that has shaped them, a conversation starter, and a love letter to the adventures they have shared.

It was a detail that had their guests smiling and sharing stories all evening, and it set the tone for a reception full of warmth and personality.

Then came the moment that stopped the room. Emma and Corey's vows during the reception were deeply personal and openly emotional — the kind of words that make everyone in the room remember why love is worth celebrating. And then, before the night had settled into something quieter, they hit the dancefloor.

Their first dance was nothing short of spectacular. High energy, full of joy, completely uninhibited — it was one of those moments I live for as a photographer, where everything else falls away and you are simply witnessing two people being entirely, joyfully themselves.

The party that followed was equally vibrant. I moved through the dancefloor capturing candid moments of pure celebration while also working a dedicated portrait setup in a quiet corner of the venue — offering guests a chance to sit for something a little more classic amidst all the dancing and laughter.

A Full Heart

By the end of the evening I made my way to a nearby hotel, tired in the best possible way. Emma and Corey's wedding was a reminder of everything I love about this work — the beauty, the emotion, the laughter, the trust that couples place in me to tell their story. It was a privilege and a joy from the very first frame to the last.

Congratulations, Emma and Corey. Wishing you a lifetime of love and adventure together.

“We had the most amazing wedding and were lucky enough to have such a great photographer to capture it!! Our photos turned out exactly how we pictured and the practice photo shoot had meant we had a "plan" to follow leaving us heaps of time and not feeling in a rush. Our guests have all told us how kind and approachable Tony was when wanting to get a photo and helping with posing ect. Everyone felt at ease which can be hard to do when getting formal wedding photos! All our specific special moments were caught and the dance floor shots were amazing showing just how great our party was! I cannot recommend moments in light highly enough, Tony was easy to work with and very understanding from the start to the end, he was the perfect mix of professional and fun!”
